The workshop is an exploration of the practical process of making a site-specific dance film. The participants will work in groups with the purpose of creating a one-shot dance film of one minute. During the workshop we will discuss the basics involved in the creation of choreography for the camera as well as cinematographic notions as framing, camera angles and movement, rhythm, dynamics and soundscapes. The workshop focuses on questioning the relationship between the space and the body, the concrete reality and the digital one, viewed as either dependent or disruptive. The atmosphere of the workshop is playful and based on experimentation and discovery. While engaged in exercises that involve both the movement of the body and the movement of the camera, the participants will have the opportunity to create spaces with their own bodies or relate to a common environment in a new creative way.

The workshop runs over 2-3 days (4 hours/day) and is open to artists from diverse backgrounds, including dance, filmmaking, and video art. Participants are invited to bring their own filming equipment and a computer for editing. When organized within a dance film festival, the workshop can conclude with an informal showcase of the films created during the sessions.
